Copper Country Explorer - Explorations

“For over a century and a half the heavy hand of industry had shaped and molded the landscape. Forests were cleared, lakes filled, rivers damned, and great piles of rock hauled up from the surface and deposited upon the Copper Country’s surface. While the great Copper Empire may have vanished from this place, the deep and numerous scars from its occupation still remain scratched into the peninsula’s rugged and wooded landscape. Our Industrial Footprints series aims to document and explain these scars, as still seen from the air and along the roadways. These are the stories behind those scars, what left them, and the stories they tell about the history of the Copper Country.”
