I've seen those "Hammer Time" stencils on different stop signs (not in Houghton). I've also seen "collaborate and listen".

A more modern addition to Houghton's stop signs happened last year, when some brilliant person went around with a "HAMMER TIME" stencil and added the words below each STOP sign. Brilliant.

BTW, we've just uncovered some old photos in Houghton that show that same exact style of stop sign. The pictures were from the 1930's, so this guy's been here a spell.

You mean they don't have those in the big city? :)

Its funny because everyone seems to complain about them up here too, which makes sense considering how they're only a nickel and all. I know at Tech it was a quarter minimum... for 15 minutes no less.

I've noticed those signs around Calumet before, but I never read the "Thru Street" part. Weird.

I should try to get a photo of the Ultimate Yooper Stop Sign I found once. I think it was up at Hungarian falls -- it was your standard red stopsign, except: no white border (not optional!), it had been repeatedly shot up by shotguns and rifles, run over and bent to the ground, and then apparently set on fire.
