Your panoramic view inside the Q&TL Enginehouse is awesome. The boiler in the back of the maintenance area is not a “spare”, it was the source of steam heat for the building and at one time for the steam engine that ran the overhead drive belts for the machinery (replaced w/electricity). There is also a steam water pump between the office door and the bricked up window. Also visible in front of the boiler is a forge and the anvil stand. The anvil just got up and walked away some time ago, along with a lot of other “relics”. With scrap prices the way they are, a lot of stuff is disappering.

Thanks Chuck! Glad you’re here to fill in the details, since especially when I wrote these posts I had no idea what I was looking at. Made a lot of educated guesses though…

Its a pity about the scrappers coming in and taking stuff. I’ve noticed in a lot of buildings (especially along the southern range), a lot of damage has been done to ruins in what I can only guess is attempts to get at old wiring and plumbing fixtures. At Painesdale some bandits broke apart a memorial plaque on the Champion No. 4 thinking it was made of copper (it wasn’t). What some people will do for a few dollars…
